Michael HudsonGuest artist - December 2001
Michael Hudson is a fine photographer who uses black and white films to create unique arty portraits of the most fascinating natural and historical places.
Loneliness is a leit-motiv of Michael's works, but it is a feeling which has no negative implications, it is just the sense of relaxation we feel when we get along well with ourselves and are in peace with the world.
All the images in this exhibition have a common ground, that is the research for essential beauty to be captured in a couple of elements. These photographs do really have a Zen touch, see "Garden" for the perfect example. A boat on a quiet water surface, a tree on a typical British hill, do give us a sense of unity and completion, as if such elements were perfectly merged with their environment.
"I was born in Australia and grew up in Australia, the United States, and England. Since 1985, I have been living near Chicago, with regular trips back to England.
I got my start in the world of professional photography when I photographed Princess Diana and the British Royal Family during the summers of 1986 and 1987.
That experience taught me how to think fast, work in difficult situations, compose quickly, and above all, to be patient..."
