Ulrich PokorraGuest artist - March 2002
I was born in July 1950 and grew up in the industrial town of Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
I studied at the University of Bochum in the fields of social-psychology, sociology, anglistic sciences and sports and graduated in 1977. Only five years later I became a director at a college in my hometown where I still live and work today.
While at school I had the opportunity to attend the amazing art lessons of a very talented teacher who succeeded in teaching us the secrets of fine arts. I appreciated his works very much and soon started to create my own with more or less success.
Painting became one of my hobbies and it is still today. I prefer colourful watercolor paintings of nature and landscapes.
As a painter I learned very much about colors, especially how to use them at best. My ambitions in fine art definitely helped me a lot when I started to use a camera. I take my photos with two Minolta motor cameras only using Kodak films and my new Casio QV-2900UX digital camera with a 96 MB chip.
