Houston-based Avila was born in California and raised in Monterrey, Mexico.
Ever since he was a child, a strong connection with drawing and painting has been present in his life. He has always been driven by a natural talent which has kept him active within the art field. He studied International Relations from 1993 to 1994 and Architecture from 1994 to 1998 at Tecnológico de Monterrey. At that time he also worked on various graphic design projects. However, his biggest passion is Art, especially painting.
Layering his work with references to culture, art, and the self, he offers us works that at first appear direct and simple. But if one pays attention to them, it is clear how the artist describes an ideal world. And at the same time the real one as well, both of them complex and vibrant. It is typical the use of a figurative style and a skillful line when Avila paints.
